MY STORY

My name is Laura, I'm 30 years old, I'm a Wedding Coordinator and Event Planner and I live with my wonderful husband, Chris, in Aberdeen, Scotland.

I began writing this blog in May 2009 after discovering the wonderful world of blogging via Company magazine.  I had no idea this online community existing before that time.  I wasn't sure of my credentials as a blogger to begin with because I wasn't a make-up artist, or stylist or a beautician.  However, the great thing about this community is that you don't have to be a professional, the only thing that is required is a passion for what you are writing about.  It's important to stay true to who you are and not try to copy other bloggers, the way they write or their style.  People will see right through that.  Be who you are and be proud of it.

I never set out to become the most popular, the most stylish, or the funniest blogger.  I just blog about what I love and that covers many facets of my personality.

Indulging in a passion for cosmetics and clothes would at first seem to be a shallow or superficial way to channel your energies.  However, these seemingly superficial aspects of life can bring confidence to someone and make them walk taller.  It's not about hiding or camouflaging who you are, but embracing yourself and the way you look regardless of dress size, colour or creed.  Make up is a fun way of expressing how you feel and your personal style can be translated through what you wear.  Cosmetics and clothes don't define me as a person, they just help me to project what I'm feeling inside to the rest of the world.  All of these things appeal to my creative side.

My journey to who I am today has been a long one and at times, a very difficult one.  There will be many people in life who will try and knock your confidence because they aren't happy in their own lives.  Remember that you are your own problem, but also your own solution.  Only you can control how you live your life, how you behave and how you react to situations.  So ignore the negative people trying to pull you down, keep being true to who you are and reach your full potential.  Remember that success is the best revenge.

My blog is about celebrating individualism, diversity and female solidarity.  I feel very lucky to have met so many genuine, kind and supportive people in the blogging community.  I love blogging for so many different reasons and I appreciate every one of my readers who take the time out of their day to read my ramblings.
